PASSION

Passion is the emotion of feeling very strongly about a subject When we think about passion several different things come to mind. There is the passion of soldiers who have to fight to survive. Then there is the passion known as limerence which causes people to be attracted to one another in a sexual manner. Then there is the passion that some have for God like King David in 2 Samuel 21-22. Then there is the greatest of all passions when Christ went to the cross for us. His passion for mankind drove Him to the cross to complete the greatest mission ever. If you look at any individual that has made marks of accomplishment on society behind that person you will find passion for whatever it is they have accomplished. Nothing falls out of the sky and just happens. All accomplishments have to be dreamed of, thought out, and driven by a purposeful passion.

One of the spiritual gifts God has allowed me to share is the gift of discernment. This gift can be challenging at times but it also has its rewards. One of the rewards is witnessing someone who has a heart and passion to accomplish what is laid before them. It thrills me to watch these people move forward and to see first hand one of Gods creative principles at work. At the same time it is troubling to see individuals who do not have a dream or a passion driving them. In times past the concept of creative passion was passed down by parents to their children. Today we count on the schools to teach everything to our children that they need in life while we go on and work at just trying to keep ahead. I want you to know it is not the schools job to teach our children Godly world building principles. It is our job as parents who love our children to share with them what they need. Today many people, especially young people aim at nothing but education for their lives. We somehow have surrendered to the concept that if we can get a bunch of education then we will have it all together and everyone will be provided for and happy. I say that is a bunch of bunk! If you follow that line of thinking you may have money and success but true happiness will escape you if you don't live according to the way you were designed. Think about this!

In my earlier blogs (What is Identity?) & (A Study in Humanity)  the concept of people being created in the image of God was discussed. If you missed them I encourage you to go back and check it out. Basically it says that God created people with some of His characteristics and abilities. God instilled in each of us the ability to create our own worlds in the same manner that He created His world. How did He create the world? By thinking it into existence that's how. Now God gave us the ability to make choices, have vision, dream dreams, and develop passion. All of these are powerful world building tools. I want to share an example with you. Let's take the light bulb. When the light bulb was invented it was absolutely incredible for anyone to think that you could flip this little switch a few feet away from the light source and suddenly have light. Before that folks had to use kerosene lamps for light. By the way that wasn't so long ago. I heard how incredible the invention of the light bulb was from both of my Grandmothers. Now what was the light bulb before it was invented? It was a THOUGHT! Thomas Edison envisioned it, dreamed about it, and then developed a passion for it. Gods plan at work! Thomas Edison created his own world by thinking about it. Once his thoughts had passion it was just a matter of time before we had the light bulb. Look around you right now, Everything you see started out as a thought. Isn't that cool?

This principle applies to everyone. Whatever you think into your world will eventually become reality. I know a lot of men who are dealing with addictions, aimless living, sorrow, unhappiness, and despair without understanding that they have created it themselves. I'll talk about women and their world building in another blog.  Even those who are truly victims of some situation that was not of their choosing can use the mind God gave them to change their lives for the better. One of the happiest people I have met had been handicapped through a foolish mistake but still built a world for himself and his family that reflects joy and happiness to this day. That is how each of us is made. With the power of thought as our greatest asset on earth. That power is the greatest tool we have and it was given to us by God! Wow! Another great gift!

If you are not using your mind in a constructive manner to build your world then I have a warning for you. Consider this. If you aim at nothing in your life but just getting by, then that is what you will experience, just getting by. Even more serious is, if you are living in a fantasy world in your thought life then beware! Your fantasies will become reality through the power of thought but I assure you it will not be as much fun as you thought it was going to be. More on that later. Anyway, If you can not describe your passion then I want to encourage you to pray and ask God to help you develop a passion that you will hold on to.

I will close with Joel 2:28: And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions

This is the promise of the Spirit

Until Later: Dave
